SDG Dashboard
SDGs for Malaysian States is an interactive platform that assess SDG performance of 13 states and 3 Federal Territories of Malaysia throughout the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (with exception of Goals 12 & 13). The website reflects the progress Malaysia made as it exited the COVID-19 pandemic This website leveraged the methodology and performance thresholds used in the Sustainable Development Report produced by SDG Transformation Center.
Malaysia has major challenges in Goals 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10 and 15. Malaysia, collectively, excels in basic indicators (such as elimination of extreme poverty) but lags behind on more advanced indicators (such as inequality related indicators).
This website highlights insightful findings about state level SDG performance. Unlike the previous iteration of SDGs for Malaysian States, there is limited common background for top three performing states (Labuan, Terengganu and Negeri Sembilan). For the lowest performing states for SDGs like Sabah and Kelantan, poverty, access to nutrition, educational challenges and lagging economy are the stumbling blocks for the SDGs. Due to significant data limitations (e.g., data aggregation of Putrajaya with another territory), Putrajaya was not assessed.
This website invites you to learn about the progress and challenges of SDGs across states, by Goal and indicators. As SDGs require cooperation of all members of society and different tiers of government, the assessment hopefully opens your mind on the responsibility of carrying out relevant action.
